Stillness, Sounding, Melting - for guitar trio (2026)

Several years ago, I found myself in the silence after the rain at Yahiko Shrine in my hometown.
I listened to droplets falling from the building's eaves.

I was captivated by an irregular rhythm that somehow has a hidden structure, and the silence between the droplets. 

Time did not seem to pass through me.
Instead, it stayed with me.
With the silence between each droplet, time deepened vertically rather than flowing linearly.

This piece was composed from that experience and memory.
The rhythm is based on droplets from melting ice. For example, an eighth note corresponds to a single droplet.

Through this work, I re-express the vertical flow of time I experienced at the shrine, as well as the silence that deepens the time.

数年前、故郷にある弥彦神社で、雨上がりの静けさと出会いました。
僕は建物の軒先から滴り落ちる水滴の音に耳を澄ませていました。

その不規則でありながら、どこかに潜んでいる構造を感じさせるリズム、そして水滴と水滴のあいだにある「間」に、僕は強く惹きつけられました。

時間は自分の中を通り過ぎていくのではなく、むしろそこに留まり続けているように感じられました。
一滴一滴のあいだの静けさによって、時間は横に流れるのではなく、縦へと深まっていくように思えました。

この作品は、そうした体験と記憶をもとに作曲したものです。
リズムは、溶ける氷から滴る水滴をもとに構成しており、例えば八分音符が一つの水滴に対応しています。

この作品を通して、神社で感じた時間の縦方向の流れ、そしてその深まりをもたらす「間」を、あらためて表現しました。
